Cameos: Wearable pieces of art with a story to tell
Share
In Victorian times young women of wealthy families embarked on their “Grand Tour” of the continent to become more polished and cultured (and perhaps to find a husband!). Italy was always a destination and included culture and shopping! Cameos were often the favored souvenir trinket of the trip.
This one was designed using a cameo earring piece with the marking “West Germany” and named Marianne for the character in Sense and Sensibility (remember the silhouette scene with Willoughby?).
Though I love all cameo colors, there’s something about the traditional classic black and white which I find myself wearing most often. Learn more about Marianne here.
