Story of a Mom, a birthday gift, and a unique wedding necklace

antique pink and pearl brooch pin
I love jewelry with a story, and this piece has quite a special one to tell. Years ago, shopping with my sweet Mom, I spotted it in an antique shop in Iowa, and it was love at first sight. The elegant swirl shape, the sparkling pinkish stones, the pearls . . . But for some reason I talked myself out of it. I still can’t believe I actually left the shop without claiming such a treasure.
A few months later I received a birthday package from my Mom. It was, of course, this exquisite brooch! She had secretly returned and purchased it for me. I tucked it away in my jewelry chest - one of those pieces so precious to me that I  couldn’t risk something happening to it if I wore it. Perhaps it was simply waiting for the right moment.
And now it’s getting ready to make it’s debut.
My dear Mom passed away this year, and I wanted to find a way to honor her at my son’s upcoming wedding. So I’ll be transforming this special gift from my Mom into a necklace and will wear it for the event. It will be a tangible way to honor Mom and help me feel she’s with me on her grandson’s special day.
Check back or join my email list to see the finished piece. I look forward to sharing it with you!
