Custom Antique Watch Necklace: Before and After

Did you know that until early in the 20th century wrist watches were primarily worn by women?
There's something timeless and elegant about an old watch. Perhaps because we live in an age of electronics where everything is tapping and clicking I find old, well-loved time pieces to hold a stately and somewhat mysterious air.
So when asked by a client to create a wearable necklace out of a treasured family timepiece from another era, I simply couldn't resist!
I matched the best pearl size, decided how to attach the pendant, and designed chains of tiny pearl dangles from her aunt's pearls. The necklace was complete, except for one small detail.
The watch was not in working condition, so the final touch was to set the hands to 5 o'clock to reflect the well-known phrase, it's 5 o'clock somewhere!
A wearable piece of history - what could be more elegant than that?
